Hand Tying Ceremony
During the first feast for the new couple, there is a ceremony called Hand Tying, "Khis Tes". White cotton strings are tied around the persons hand to shield them from them from evil spirits. The strings represents holding the persons life souls intact and making sure their soul has not fallen. During the ceremony, family members are called upon to tie the strings around the loves one hand and to speak of special words such as wishing them a long and happy life.
